"The Brethren determined [to] go up to Jerusalem..concerning this issue" (verse 2). <br /><br />"After there had been much debate" (verse 7a) the authority of God in His Word testifies that salvation comes by the proclamation, hearing and saving belief (faith) in the gospel of Jesus Christ (verse 7b). God testifies to saving faith by granting the Holy Spirit (verse 8) and by "cleansing their hearts by faith" (verse 9). On the authority of God Himself, " we believe we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ" (verse 11).<br /><br />The doctrine of salvation (soteriology) in the Orthodox Church is much different from the authority of God in His Word.
